Conflict is not always a bad thing. In fact, it can be healthy in both personal and work relationships as long as it is handled well. By shifting from conflict avoidance to constructive dialogue, we can transform disagreements over tasks, processes, and relationships into opportunities for innovation. Staying silent can be damaging to both our health and relationships. Speaking up when you disagree can be productive, as long as it is done with compassion and kindness. Take note of the strategies we can use to navigate disagreements and approach conflict with calm and confidence. These include depersonalizing disagreements and adopting a collaborative mindset. As you view this video, think of a recurring disagreement you have with a colleague or friend. If you were to assume their perspective is driven by a commitment to the work you are doing together rather than a personal flaw, how does that change the way you would approach your next conversation with them?
