- 5b Assess how intercultural communication can affect interpersonal relationships in the workplace (CLO 1, CLO 3, CLO 4, CLO 5)
Remember that culture is a learned system of symbols and values primarily transmitted through educational institutions. This talk bring us back to the principles of communication that we learned in Unit 1. It highlights how educational environments serve as centers that reinforce specific cultural norms, shaping the rules of interaction and defining valuable knowledge. If your personal experience tells you that silence is a sign of respect, but your instructor views silence as a lack of preparation, how might you use the concept of mindfulness to bridge this gap without losing your cultural identity?
