Narrator: Real-World Connections. Episode 15: Let the Model Draft It?
Narrator: Hearth & Harbor is one step from its five-year plan.
Narrator: Priya thinks she's found a shortcut.
Priya: I gave an AI tool our sales data. It drafted three strategy options overnight. It could pre-screen café job applications too.
Kofi: Yes, please. Queen Street got hundreds this spring. I can't read them all.
Adaeze: Faster sounds good. Hana, you're frowning.
Hana: I just read a case. A company called Strategeion built a resume screener named Paris. They trained it on resumes from their best and worst employees.
Tomás: Sounds sensible.
Hana: Most of their staff were veterans, so Paris learned that a history of sports meant good fit. It turned down a strong candidate who uses a wheelchair. The engineers had built it not to look at disability. It found a stand-in anyway.
Daniel: So the bias came in through the training data.
Hana: Right. And HR stopped double-checking because the lists looked like their own. Plus, staff never agreed to their resumes being used that way.
Kofi: So if we train it on my best baristas, we just hire copies of them.
Priya: Then the tool supports the process. It doesn't make the call. Same with strategy. I test every draft against what we actually know.
Adaeze: Speed is one value. Fairness is another. I want both written down before we switch anything on.
Leo: And I want a name next to whoever reviews what the model rejects.
Narrator: Hearth & Harbor wants the speed without turning into Strategeion.
Narrator: In hiring and in drafting strategy, where should a person stay in the loop, and which kind of fairness should the bakery write down first?

Using the Strategeion case, list three risks of letting an AI tool screen Hearth & Harbor's café applicants. For each risk, write one human checkpoint. Then choose which meaning of fairness from the reading the bakery should put first, and give a short reason.
