- 1a Identify the three most common types of public speaking (CLO 6)
The benefits of public speaking are many. Public speaking is a critical skill for advocacy, leadership, and personal civic engagement. It is one of the most sought-after skills for entry-level employees, and a skill that many people attribute to their success in getting promoted in the workplace. This presentation provides you with a simple memory device for remembering the three purposes of public speaking -- PIE -- (Persuade, Inform, and Entertain) and a forecast of communication anxiety, which we will address in more depth later in this unit.
