- 1d Compare and contrast verbal and nonverbal communication behaviors in intercultural contexts (CLO 1)
We know that nonverbal communication and verbal communication work together to convey meaning. The interpretation of the message is shaped by the context, culture, and the relationship between the people speaking. As you watch this video, take note of the concepts the have an impact on verbal and nonverbal communication, especially in intercultural communication settings. These include proxemics, haptics, oculesics, and silence. Our individual preferences and greater cultural preferences shape the way we use and interpret these nonverbal standards.
